Local Afrobeats Performer Almighty Zilla had a vision of more than just another night out — he wanted a space where everyone, from all walks of life, could come together, feel safe, and share joy with no wahala (no worries).

That vision became Afro Shayo. Throughout 2025, it has grown into a locally loved event held every two months — a night the city now looks forward to. More than just entertainment, Afro Shayo has become an inviting platform not only for seasoned performers but also for beginners and emerging artists. Here, they are given the platform they need to share their craft, build confidence, and grow their followers in a supportive, inclusive environment.

 

DJs spin rhythms that make strangers dance together, live performances bring energy that lights up the room, and fashion weaves culture into the night. Behind it all is passion, love, and collaboration with local businesses who believe in the same vision.

 

On Darby Street, in Newcastle’s trendiest corner, Afro Shayo has become a gathering place — a home for connection, laughter, and music that bridges generations and backgrounds. There’s nothing else like it here. And now, Afro Shayo is drawing people from out of town, expanding the circle and showing that Newcastle’s heartbeat can resonate far beyond its borders.

 

This is more than entertainment. It’s a movement, built with care, high standards, and a belief that music can create family out of strangers.
